The Hotel Palmas de Cortez is a truly fantastic spot on the shores of Baja's East Cape, spanning the beachfront a short 3-5 minute walk downwind from Vela Baja, located at the Hotel Playa del Sol. Situated along a beautiful white sand beach, this first-class resort offers full amenities for wind enthusiasts and families alike. The magnificent infinity edge pool and resort-style swim-up bar overlook the magnificent Sea of Cortez. The hotel wholly operates its own boat fleet and all charters for incredible deep-sea fishing excursions whenever the conditions allow. The Jacuzzi pool is a favorite spot to relax, and the inside bar features a full selection of fine wines and liquors, plus ice cold local beers.

PROPERTY HIGHLIGHTS

Hotel Palmas de Cortez offers air conditioned oceanfront rooms, oceanfront/poolside rooms, palapa roofed cabañas, garden rooms, and two bedroom luxurious condos with complete kitchen and fireplace. Newly renovated, our hotel rooms are modern, clean, and very comfortable. Rooms can sleep from one to four people per room and come equipped with telephones, mini-fridge, and some rooms come with satellite TV. Condos feature a spacious living room and large bedrooms, verandas, satellite TV, and complete kitchen facilities including full-size refrigerators, all dishes, glassware and utensils, microwave oven, stove, double sinks, and coffeemakers. Condos can sleep five to six people comfortably with one king bed, two queen beds, and a fold out couch.

Inspired by the lush natural setting of Palmas de Cortez, Spa De Cortez offers a tropical spa experience with a range of therapeutic and beauty-enhancing treatments. Licensed, experienced professionals furnish an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. Facials, manicures and pedicures, waxing, body scrubs and wraps, acupuncture treatments, and massage therapy deliver physical rejuvenation. Pilates, yoga, and samba classes are available. The recently completed 9-hole executive golf course and driving range are a nice alternative for those taking the day off from other more adventurous sports. As a Vela guest, you'll have access to all our toys with the Vela Sporting Program. Additional on-land activities are plentiful such as ATV rentals, horseback riding, scuba certification and dives, eco-tours, and shopping excursions to Cabo San Lucas or the capital city of La Paz.

ROOM OPTIONS

Garden Room:
A grouping of multi-level buildings on the upwind edge of the resort nearest to the Vela Baja center a short 3 minute walk away. Rooms have 2 Double beds plus 1 Single bed, private bath, A/C, and mini-fridge. There is a children's playground within very close earshot from your room, great for families with kids, maybe not as great for couples or singles. Maximum Occupancy 4.

Cabanas:
A series of single-level buildings near to the lobby, reception hall, and hot tub, these spacious rooms are great for two friends who want a lot of space or a family with a need for more beds. One of the room types at the hotel to feature Queen beds, each Cabana has 2 plus another Single bed. Maximum Occupancy 4, yet 5 apporved for families with small kids.

Oceanview Room:
A series of two-level buildings with rooms on the ground and second floor, the focus point of these rooms is the incredible views from your direct-oceanfront room. A large patio or balcony is terrific for catching the first rays in the morning or to watch the day slip by. Also has 2 Queen beds plus another Single bed. Maximum Occupancy 4.

Poolside Room:
In the same series of building along the beach-front, these rooms are directly behind the pool with great oceanviews. All rooms are either ground floor or second floor, and cable TV. 2 Double beds. Maximum Occupancy 4.

Triple Poolside Room:
A unique option, with only two to chose from. Each is a semi-circular room with high-roofed palapa ceiling, cozy fireplace, and nearly within arms' reach from the poolside bar when enjoying time on your large patio. 2 Queen beds, 2 Single beds, and cable TV. Maximum Occupancy 4, though families with 4 kids have been known to share the space in the past.

2-Bedroom Condo:
Large apartment with 2 bedrooms and full bath, 1 King bed and 2 Queen beds, plus sleeper sofa, Large living room, complete kitchen and dining area, huge balcony or patio, fireplace and ocean views. If you are looking for more space to share with friends or family, this is it! Planning a group vacation? Get two 2-Bedroom condos side-by-side and you can entertain between each apartment quite easily. Maximum Occupancy 7 per unit.

OF NOTE

LARGE Jaccuzi pool is open late and can be used by guests of either hotel.

The spa, tennis courts, 9-hole golf course, Sushi Bar, swim-up pool bar, and all other resort services are available for guests of either hotel.

Throughout our season there may be periods of time when there are very few or even no guests at the Hotel Palmas de Cortez. Because the windsurf center is located at the Hotel Playa del Sol, a majority of our guests prefer the community feel that is created by the different guests visiting each week.
